Comprehensive Lipedema Management
Empowering individuals with Lipedema through integrated, compassionate care.
What is Lipedema?
Lipedema is a chronic, progressive condition characterized by the symmetrical accumulation of painful, disproportionate fat, primarily in the legs, hips, and buttocks, and sometimes the arms. Unlike regular fat, lipedema fat is resistant to diet and exercise. It often spares the feet and hands, leading to a distinctive "cuffing" effect.
Individuals with Lipedema often experience pain, easy bruising, and a feeling of heaviness. Our goal is to manage these symptoms, slow the condition's progression, and significantly improve your quality of life through a tailored conservative treatment plan.
Our Integrated Treatment Approach
We combine specialized therapies to address the unique challenges of Lipedema, focusing on pain reduction, fluid management, tissue softening, and improved mobility.
Deep Oscillation Therapy (DOT)
DOT uses gentle, deep-penetrating electrostatic impulses to create vibrations within the tissue. This therapy is highly effective for reducing pain, inflammation, and fluid retention. It helps to soften fibrotic tissue and nodules, preparing the affected areas for other treatments and enhancing overall tissue health.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Performed by our trained therapists, MLD is a gentle, rhythmic skin stretching technique that stimulates the lymphatic system. It is foundational for reducing swelling, alleviating pain, and softening hardened tissues by promoting the natural drainage of lymph. MLD also has a calming effect, contributing to overall well-being.
Custom Compression Garments
Compression therapy is essential for Lipedema. We specialize in fitting **flat-knit, custom-made compression garments** that provide consistent pressure to contain tissue, reduce pain, improve mobility, and prevent fluid re-accumulation. Consistent daily wear is crucial for managing symptoms and slowing progression.
Intermittent Pneumatic Compression (IPC)
IPC devices provide sequential inflation and deflation, mimicking manual massage to move lymphatic fluid. It's a valuable adjunctive therapy, especially for home use, to help reduce limb volume and manage swelling, complementing other in-clinic treatments.
Lymphatic Taping
Specialized elastic therapeutic tape can be applied to gently lift the skin, potentially reducing pain and supporting fluid movement in areas affected by Lipedema. It can be a helpful adjunct for comfort and mild fluid management.
