What this funding path is
Accident benefits coverage for swelling and lymphatic management
In Ontario, people injured in a motor vehicle accident may be entitled to treatment benefits under the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS). Where clinically appropriate and approved, this may include assessment and treatment for swelling, edema, lymphedema, fibrosis, or limb changes that arise after trauma, surgery, immobilization, or delayed recovery related to the accident. Our clinic focuses specifically on the swelling and lymphatic component of recovery. We do not provide full general musculoskeletal physiotherapy under this pathway. Patients should continue their primary rehabilitation with their physiotherapist, chiropractor, or other treating provider while we address swelling-related barriers that may be slowing progress. Where pre-authorization is confirmed, we can bill the insurer directly. Any uninsured or non-approved amounts will be discussed clearly before treatment begins.
